The Trailer...Phase One...?

Well.. we started another project!

Stacey found a 2004 Prowler in Idaho! Just shy of 27 feet long, it has a fully enclosed bedroom up front with a queen bed and its own door to the outside. I was thinking it would be too big. Not too heavy to pull but just a little longer than I wanted for maneuvering through campgrounds and forest roads. We only saw pictures but it seemed to be in really good shape. The price was about half of what we were seeing online so I contacted the seller and made an offer below what he was asking. He accepted and we were heading to Pocatello!

During the 2 hour drive, I was asking Stacey, "What if its not exactly what we want?" She said, "We're buying it anyway and we can resell it in Utah for more." I like that girl's thinking. She's never afraid to take a chance on something. We picked it up, paid, signed some papers, and were on our way back to Utah.

First hookup the day we picked it up in Pocatello, Idaho.

The trailer was in really good shape. The inside was completely unmarred except for some carpet that was removed. The color scheme and fabrics on the other hand...totally dated! We didn't have it for more than 3 days and Stacey was already removing the wallpaper. I started pulling out all the unwanted stuff like that brown, floral jack-knife couch. We considered reupholstering it but decided we could take it completely out, lay down a nice upholstered foam pad and some throw pillows and have a crash zone that can be sat or slept on. The couch is in a smaller slide-out but it really adds a lot of space to the interior when its out. It can also be left in and not be in the way. We left the dining area as is so there is a little more sleeping space if needed. We did consider replacing it with a table and chairs.

Starting the cleanup and remodel

All the major systems work on this trailer which was a bonus. You never know what you're going to get with a used trailer. I swapped out the old leaking faucets. There are a couple spots on the roof that I will repair to prevent any major leaks. They are small now but I'll give them a permanent fix.

A little more info about the trailer. It is a 2004 Prowler 250RK. This means its about 25 feet on the inside and has a Rear Kitchen. Total unloaded weight is 5200 pounds. There is a 50 gallon fresh water tank, two 40 gallon Gray tanks and a 40 gallon Black tank. One gray tank is for the bathroom and the other for the kitchen. This is actually convenient because it you don't fill up the grays so quick when showering! There are two 12 volt batteries and 2 propane tanks.

The Maiden Voyage! Why does it look like I'm wearing a wetsuit?

We've already taken it out on two camping trips for a total of 542 miles! I'm sure we will get a lot of great use out of this trailer. Who knows, maybe you'll see it for sell at about double what we paid for it!
